Herno (Erno) is an internationally renowned Italian company that was established by Giuseppe Marenzi in 1948. Following the end of World War I, Giuseppe and his wife resided in the Erno River Valley. Facing a lack of employment opportunities, Giuseppe secured a job at a raincoat factory. His innovative idea of treating cotton with castor oil to make it waterproof led to significant advancements in the factory's development. Recognizing the untapped raincoat market in Italy, Giuseppe decided to start his own business.

In 1960, the company expanded its production to include cashmere coats, men's suits, women's dresses, skirts, blouses, and more. The first boutique was opened in Osaka, Japan, in 1971. The mastery of fabric treatment technologies paved the way for collaborations with renowned global brands like Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, and others.

In 2000, Claudio Marenzi, the son of the founders, assumed control of the business. He opted to bring the brand back to its roots by utilizing modern technologies to create windproof, waterproof, and highly durable clothing. The sports line, consisting of classic raincoats, was introduced in 2005, followed by the development of a collection of unique down jackets in 2007.
