Upon his return to Italy, he established a small workshop where he crafted high-quality, custom-made shoes. The name "Ducale" (meaning "Duke" in Italian) was given to the brand due to the use of prestigious leather and the exceptional quality of the footwear. The products blended Italian comfort and relaxation with English style and elegance. In 1972, the company was rebranded as Doucal's. Two decades later, Mario's sons, Gianni and Jerry, joined the business. Jerry contributes his financial expertise as a commercial director, while Gianni is a master shoemaker renowned for his craftsmanship.

Today, Doucal's remains a luxury shoe brand dedicated to handmade footwear. The brand utilizes the finest materials in their production process.
