The establishment of Valentino, a renowned fashion house, took place in 1960. In 1959, Valentino Garavani inaugurated his initial studio in Rome. Shortly thereafter, an inaugural presentation of the collection transpired, featuring exclusively red dresses. Valentino is renowned for his declaration, "Red is the ultimate hue. It complements any woman, one must simply bear in mind that there exist 30 shades of red." The presentation proved successful, but financially, the couturier's venture teetered on the edge of bankruptcy. It was during this period that a fateful encounter occurred with architect Giancarlo Giammetti, who subsequently became Valentino's partner and lifelong companion.
The subsequent collection, Gotha, garnered significant press coverage and augmented public interest. Within a year, Elizabeth Taylor became one of Valentino's esteemed clients. In 1986, the "white" collection, Collezione Bianca, was introduced. Initially, it faced criticism amidst the vibrant fashion trends of the 80s, but swiftly regained favor when Jacqueline Kennedy chose a wedding dress from it. In 1969, the "wearable" pret-a-porter collection was launched, coinciding with Paris Fashion Week. The Valentino brand had already attained recognition as a symbol of opulence and refinement. Valentino's final collection debuted in 2007 at Paris Haute Couture Week, with all the models traditionally adorned in red.
According to Valentino Garavani himself, the utmost priority in fashion is to enhance a woman's beauty. The brand encompasses clothing, footwear, and accessories. Within its repertoire, one can discover an array of items, including dresses, skirts, hoodies, blouses, jackets, cardigans, coats, T-shirts, trousers, shirts, and sportswear. Valentino's footwear is a distinct narrative, with the rockstud collection showcasing pointed metal studs. It features elegant pumps, extravagant ankle boots, carefree boots, stylish sneakers, and vibrant trainers. The brand is renowned for its exquisite handbags and clutches.
